This modular vegetable garden is perfect - it's self-watering and produces incredibly fast growth. You just need to plant your bulbs or seeds, shut the protective cover and the Vegepod does the rest!
Tips for sowing seeds in the Vegepod
- Keep the protective cover closed to protect your crop from pests and the elements.
- Whichever way the sun hits your Vegepod, make sure your taller plants - such as cherry tomatoes - are placed the furthest away. That means if the sun hits your Vegepod from the front, your tall vegetables should be placed at the back. This allows the other plants to get enough sunshine.
- Herbs and low-leaf root vegetables should be planted the closest to the sun as they're smaller.
- Make sure to always check the recommended plant spacing before you start planting. Some plants take up more room than others.
- Try staggering the amount of seeds you plant - this way you'll have more fresh food ready when you've harvested your first crop.
- Use Vermiculite (or Perlite) in the bottom of the Vegepod to help with the process of osmosis. This means that the water held in the self-watering unit will be absorbed and wicked up into the compost as the compost dries out.

Tomatoes
If you've ever grown tomatoes before, you'll know that homegrown tomatoes taste incredibly tasty. They're full of flavour that store-bought tomatoes lack, with each variety providing a delicious different taste.
If you decide to plant tomatoes, make sure to plant them spaced apart from each other at about 3mm depth. You can water the seeds daily for a week or more. After this, the Vegepods reservoir will have enough water saved to take care of the rest.
Lettuce
Picking fresh lettuce for a salad is the ideal way to stay on top of your healthy eating.
Make sure to spread the lettuce seeds out evenly. It's also a good idea to not plant too many at once - by staggering the amount you plant, you'll have more fresh lettuce ready by the time you finish your first lot.
Spinach
Spinach is the perfect way to add some leafy greens to your lunches and dinners. It's also a great source of vitamin K, vitamin C and vitamin A. If you want to use spinach for a delicious health kick, you could even use it to make a breakfast smoothie.
Herb seeds
Fancy having fresh herbs right outside your door? Herbs can be used in pasta dishes, salads, sauces, pizza, curries and more. They're perfect for spicing up meals and are a great way to include some extra greens in your meals. Try adding some herb seeds like basil, parsley or oregano to get some more flavour in your meals.
Pea seeds
Peas are perfect for adding to salads and other meals. They're a good source of vitamins and nutrients, including Vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc.
